Inn at Stockbridge in Yankee Magazine!

Fall foliage, seasonal food and excitement at the Inn

As the busy summer season wraps up here at the inn, we are looking forward to the (slightly) more leisurely pace of autumn. It is hard to believe we have weathered our first summer as innkeepers! The feedback we have received from our guests has been so heartwarming, especially our repeat visitors. Many have already booked for next summer, and my comment upon their departure always is "I'm glad we didn't do anything to run you off!"

Growing up in New England, autumn was my favorite season, and was the time of year I really missed living in Florida for the past 20 years. Jeff and I always made a trip up in October to enjoy the leaves and visit family. For me there were always some "must-do's": a trip to the apple orchard for cider doughnuts that we wolfed down in the car....kicking through a leaf pile...enjoying the crisp sunshine.

We had some big excitement here yesterday after our daily visit to the post office. We were notified that we will be included in the fall issue of Yankee Magazine!  The issue will be delivered to subscribers this week and on the newsstand at the end of the month.  We are chomping at the bit to get a look at it and have called everyone we know who subscribes to let us know the minute they receive it.  I'll send out a link to the article as soon as it is posted on their digital edition.

Foliage season in the Berkshires is spectacular.  I can't wait to see the big trees in the front yard change color, and to put some big pumpkins and gourds out on the front porch.  Of course, true to form, I'll be thinking about food! David Leavitt from "David's Melons" in Pittsfield comes by weekly in his truck with beautiful muskmelons and green Galia melons.  He says he planted late due to the rain and expects to have melons into October. What a treat!

Of course I'll be developing new homemade breakfast recipes for fall and winter.  Can't wait to make some Dutch babies with fresh apples!  Here's one I made last year. Totally delicious with caramel sauce on the side.

I hope The Inn at Stockbridge will be a part of your autumn and winter getaway plans. Come and see the beauty of the seasons unfolding!
