Once again the summer has flown by, here it is the middle of August! Our second summer season is drawing to a close. A highlight, other than our fantastic guests and stellar reviews, has been the garden. We are on the cusp of harvesting a boat-load of tomatoes, a bit late this year due to the cooler than normal weather. Thanks to Tamara we have a fantastic variety. When Mickey, our chief gardening wizard, asked me what plans I had for the tomatoes, I suggested a BLT on my homemade challah bread. She started to laugh and said I was going to have an awful lot of BLTs! Okay, well then I think a few days of canning will supply us with spaghetti sauce through the winter. The bunnies took out our carrots and quite a bit of broccoli, but they don't seem to like arugula or kale so we are continuing to have some fantastic salads. We have some beautiful pumpkins coming along nicely, another sign that autumn cannot be far away. It dipped down into the forties last night, beautiful and sunny today!
One of my next projects will be to add a recipe section to the website, so the top requests by our guests will be available to all. Sounds like a fine autumn activity!
We still have rooms available for Labor Day weekend. It's a fantastic weekend of music at Tanglewood, starting with Train on Friday, followed by Josh Groban with the Boston Pops on Saturday night and, to wrap up the Tanglewood season, Tony Bennett on Sunday afternoon. The weather will still be beautiful, the pool will still be open! Give us a call to make your reservation for that one last summer getaway!
